It measures 5" in diameter at widest

(I believe there was likely once a separate winding device that attached to wind it up and properly get it spinning

I have a hard time wrapping my head around how one would carve a few links from one piece of wood

I'd guess  1960s or so

Handmade Ceramic Swiss Cheese Wedge lederhosen now softenedBecause I could not resist it, this little handmade ceramic chunk of Swiss cheese, which works well on the desk holding a pencil or two, but is also just fun. It appears to be be signed CC, or maybe they're just decorative flourishes, on one side. 3 7 8" x 3 1 2" x 2" and in great condition.
