The 1953 222s are unique compared to later 222 machines because the light housings have the older styled "Singer" decal that was used with the celtic knot decals on the 221K machines

but the Tan Featherweight is it's own distinctive color and is basically the same machine as the black - long bed extension and the internal gearing system are the same

It still takes a bit of practice because the attachment is moving the fabric back and forth as opposed to the needle moving back and forth on new machines today
